Giant Space Shield to Save the Planet

With the Kyoto Protocol scuttled (thanks Dubya!), and a nation of Hummers busily belching out greenhouse gasses, it's time to look at plan B. If the giant space shield doesn't do it for you, how about the clever plan to pour fertilizer into the oceans to create an algeal bloom which would suck up carbon dioxide? Clever, huh? You know, large-scale tampering with an ecosystem always works just the way you think it will. Hey, has anyone heard about the huge horrible island of garbage? Do a google search for Pacific gyre if you're interested. It's floating around between Oregon & Hawaii.
